David Schneider
Friend and Inspirator
David used to post on his Facebook page with the tags “Things I cook” and “Yes, more sh*t I cook!” He shared simple snapshots of his meals, accompanied by short captions.
He was also a dedicated urban gardener in New York, growing flowers and vegetables. Occasionally, the dishes he posted were made with produce from his community garden—a passion of his that I deeply admired.
What inspired me most about David was his approach to sharing food. His photos weren’t meticulously styled, sometimes not even well-lit, but they captured his creativity and love for cooking. Yet, the images often didn’t do justice to his talent.
David passed away unexpectedly in November 2016. Sadly, I never had the chance to tell him how much he influenced me. As a tribute to him, I began sharing my own cooking and baking on Facebook that same month, collecting the photos in an album dedicated to his memory.
Without his posts, this website might never have come to life.
